The parable of the wedding feast

(Matthew 22: 1-13) 『 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.   But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into...

You will be deprived of the kingdom of God, and the nation's fruitful people will receive it

(Matthew 21: 33-46) Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:   And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.   And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.   Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.   But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.   But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.   And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.   When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?   They say unto him, He will ...

New wine must be put into new bottles

(Luke 5: 36-39) 『 And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better. 』 Before this parable was the parable of the fast and the salvation of the Pharisees and publicans. The Pharisees asked the disciples a somewhat confusing question, "Why does your teacher eat with sinners?" In that sense, Jesus tells the Pharisees this parable. Matthew says it was a piece of new cloth , and Luke described it as a new garment. The Jews' garments were made of semaphores. The Bible says in Luke (23:53). 『 And he took it down, and wrapped...

Why is the tax collector first justified?

(Luke 18:9-14) And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. Regarding this, the church people usually teach that the things of the world should be paid in taxes, and the things of God should be given to the church in tithing. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians (15:50). 『 Now this...
